Choosing the right replacement part is one of the most important decisions vehicle operators can make for their business, and their peace of mind. Eliminate the potential for uneven brake wear, poor brake balance and excessive leakage when you trust your brake parts to TRP™ Spring Brake Chambers.
TRP Spring Brake Chambers are manufactured in North America for use in all Class 6, 7 and 8 trucks, trailers and buses. Each features several high-quality components that make them superior, dependable products that last longer than lesser quality spring brakes. Features include:
- Epoxy-coated steel power springs for longer life and resistance to corrosion from road salts, chemicals and other contaminants.
- Highly polished, chrome-plated internal push rod that prevents internal seal wear.
- 10-gauge reinforced stud mounting housing that provides exceptional strength.
- Stroke indicator that helps the operator determine accurately when the brakes need adjustment or replacement.
- Heavy duty, synthetic rubber diaphragms that provide high resistance to abrasion and contaminants found in pressurized air.
TRP Spring Brake Chambers are backed by one of the longest warranties in the aftermarket business, three years or 300,000 miles for on-highway applications.
How TRP Spring Brake Chambers work:
Spring brakes have two basic purposes: to apply the brakes during normal braking (service braking) and to serve as parking/emergency brakes. When air is applied to the service side of the spring brake, it causes the chamber to apply the service brakes. Spring brakes can also be activated manually by the driver to serve as parking brakes by releasing the brake air, using a dash control valve. If air is accidentally lost because of a broken line or other air system failure, the parking/emergency brakes activate to slow or stop the truck.
The service brake chamber and the emergency brake chambers are often combined into a single unit. When combined, they are sometimes referred to as “double diaphragm” chambers. Spring brake chambers alone are termed “piggyback.” Combining the service brake and the spring brake provides an efficient, compact package. Most heavy duty trucks have spring brakes installed on the drive axles only. Service chambers are only used on the front axles. Trailers typically have spring brakes on all axles.
